Pop star Taylor Swift has not publicly endorsed Kamala Harris, but that hasn't stopped her fans — as well as legendary songwriter and singer Carole King — from rallying in her name to campaign against Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election. What Happened: A "Swifties for Kamala Rally" event place Tuesday night. It raised $114,000 in donations for Harris’ 2024 campaign.Swift is not affiliated with the group, nor did she make a surprise appearance, as reported by Variety. King, whose songs Swift has covered, was introduced at the rally as the "original cat lady” — a sarcastic nod to the disparaging comment Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, made about women without children. King referred to Swift as her "musical and songwriting granddaughter." King rapped the chorus of Swift's "Shake It Off" during the rally."I'm excited about Kamala, because so many people are excited about Kamala," King said. "I have admired her, the idea that this happened, and the stars lined up, and Joe Biden did a really gracious, hard thing to do, and I'm so proud of him."The “You’ve Got a Friend” singer encouraged attendees to volunteer, knock on doors and make phone calls to help Harris win on Election Day, Nov. 5."I'm telling you all this because if any of you are thinking of volunteering to be door knockers or phone callers, but you're a little nervous about what you might say, please ...Full story available on Benzinga.com

Former Michigan Republican Party co-chair Meshawn Maddock was called out over the weekend for using a homophobic slur to describe an openly gay political opponent in her state.Maddock, who last year pleaded not guilty to accusations related to posing as fake elector for Trump, was put on the spot by a reporter in January after she attacked his reporting as "fake news."On Thursday, she took to social media to attack fellow Michigan political figure Jason Morgan, who serves as Democratic Party Vice Chair in the state. Morgan is also a member of the Democratic National Committee, according to his bio on his social media account.ALSO READ: Donald Trump exploits AP photo error for new $99 'Save America' bookReplying to Morgan's recent post on X from the Democratic National Convention, in which Morgan wrote, "Michigan Congressional delegation in the House," Maddock simply wrote, "F--- and hags."Morgan responded to the comment Friday, saying, "Former [Michigan Republican Party] Chair and advisor to Trump’s 2024 campaign, just called me a f--.""As a proud gay man who loves his husband, these hateful taunts don’t undermine my Pride, but to countless LGBTQ young people across the USA, hateful rhetoric can lead to depression and suicide," Morgan wrote on X.He then added, "On behalf of those LGBTQ Kids, I have one message for bullies like Meshawn & Donald Trump: #WereNotGoingBack to an America where hate and division win.""The choice is clear: We Choose Freedom from Hate. We choose [Vice President Kamala Harris], for the people," he said. "Let's stand up to bullies! Contribute to keep me and other LGBTQ leaders in office, no matter how triggered Meshawn gets."Morgan concluded by taunting Maddock over her legal troubles, writing, "Btw, [Maddock], aren't you due back in court (or jail) for trying to steal an election?"

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) angered Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) while appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Tuesday -- and now he's accusing Vance of trying to play the victim and deflecting from the real issue. Beshear this week spoke about his admiration of Hadley Duvall, a 22-year-old woman who was molested by her stepfather and impregnated with his child at just 12 years old. She was able to have an abortion then, but the United States Supreme Court took away this right in 2022 when it overturned Roe v. Wade.Read Also: Inside the GOP's radical agenda to penalize 'sinners'"Hadley Duvall is one of the bravest people I've ever met," Beshear told MSNBC on Tuesday morning talking about how proud he is of her. He recalled the birth of his children, "Can you imagine, can you imagine, having to go through that not knowing if your child will survive? Or not hearing that sound at birth. Nobody should have to go through that. Everyone should have options. Mika Brzezinski the brought up false claims made by former President Donald Trump about Democrats supporting abortions even after babies are born."It's just lying to people," said Beshear. "I mean, just think about what some people have had to go through because of these laws. I mean, J.D. Vance calls pregnancy from rape 'inconvenient.' Inconvenience is traffic. I mean, it is — make him go through this. I mean, someone being violated. Someone being harmed and then telling them that they don't have options after that? That fails any test of decency, of humanity."Vance took to X and unloaded on Beshear and claimed that the Kentucky governor was wishing that someone in Vance's family suffer through a sexual assault.Beshear, however, told MSNBC on Tuesday that such claims were "ridiculous." "But it's also deflection. J.D. Vance knows that he and Donald Trump are so wrong on this issue," said the governor. "And so he's trying to make himself and Donald Trump the victim. Listen, Hadley Duvall was a victim. The women that were on the stage last night. The couple that had to go through a non-viable pregnancy are victims. As a man, J.D. Vance will never have to face any of this personally."See the video clips below or at the link here. - YouTubewww.youtube.com
